Police Search for the Suspects in Scooter and Motorcycle Thefts in the City

LNP,

Philadelphia police are trying to solve the mystery of scooter and motorcycle theft in the city.

Police have released a surveillance video which shows three men in hooded sweatshirts loading two stolen motorcycles in the back of a van.

According to the police, the incident happened last Thursday at the 17th and Locust. They said that in the last month and a half, around 20 motorcycles and scooters have been stolen from the Center city and South Philadelphia area. Police think that the three men seen in the surveillance video may be responsible for the robberies.

Police said that the men are driving a white Econoline van with stolen plates. They think that the suspects might be coming from Camden as six of the stolen scooters and motorcycles were recovered from there.

Rich Everill said that the thieves were stealing his scooter, but fortunately he got here in time to stop them. He works at a scooter shop and had heard the customers talk about the rash of thefts. He said, “The scooters are light and small, so are targeted. It is important to lock the vehicle with some heavy duty motorcycle chain and lock it to something that’s not moveable.”

According to the police, the recent thefts happened on Monday at the corner of Jackson and Carlisle Streets and on the 400 block of Wolf Street.

Police have asked anyone having any information regarding the thefts to contact them.
